When Walt Disney World Resort kicked off its 50th anniversary The World’s Most Magical Celebration starting October 1, 2021, and continuing for an extended period, each theme park across the resort received unique touches to honour five decades of joy, memories, and magic. Disney’s Hollywood Studios already a beloved destination for adventure, sci-fi thrills, and behind-the-scenes storytelling embraced the anniversary in style.
One of the signature features of the 50th celebration was the Beacons of Magic a spectacular nighttime transformation of the parks’ iconic landmarks. At Hollywood Studios, the Hollywood Tower Hotel (home to The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror) became a shimmering beacon. As the sun set, the tower glowed with EARidescent lighting, symbolizing imagination and reflecting the golden celebration theme seen across the rest of Walt Disney World®️.
This dazzling lighting experience not only added extra sparkle after dark but tied in with music and visual motifs that played across all four parks, reinforcing that the celebration was truly resort-wide.
Scattered throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests could find several of the Disney Fab 50 Character golden sculptures part of a larger set of golden statues placed around the resort to celebrate the 50th anniversary. These gleaming statues showcased beloved characters in elegant golden form. Notable installations in Hollywood Studios included:
