Cheap Trick, June 2019
Cheap Trick brought a dose of classic rock energy to Centre In The Square on a warm June night in 2019, and for many in attendance it was a memorable blast from the past.
From the moment they hit the stage, it was clear that Robin Zander and the band hadn’t lost their touch. Zander’s voice still strong and unmistakable decades into the band’s career carried the crowd through a set that blended their biggest hits with deep cuts and fan favorites. Attendees noted that the band’s performance was tight, enthusiastic, and delivered with the trademark hook-laden power-pop and rock swagger that made Cheap Trick icons in the first place.
The setlist spanned much of their catalog, likely touching on classics that kept the audience singing along and engaged throughout the night.
The vibe inside Centre in the Square was fun and familiar. Fans who grew up with songs like “I Want You to Want Me” and “Dream Police” (both staples of Cheap Trick’s legacy) were delighted to hear them live, and even casual listeners found themselves caught up in the nostalgia and camaraderie of the crowd.
The audience seemed genuinely thrilled singing along enthusiastically and feeding off the band’s energy. It wasn’t a massive arena spectacle, but that smaller theatre vibe made the experience feel personal and communal.
