Alan Doyle
Alan Doyle is a Canadian singer-songwriter best known as the longtime frontman of the folk-rock band Great Big Sea. Born in Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador, Doyle helped bring the traditional sounds of Newfoundland to mainstream audiences through energetic performances and modern folk arrangements.
After Great Big Sea went on hiatus, Doyle launched a successful solo career with albums such as Boy on Bridge and A Week at the Warehouse, continuing to celebrate East Coast storytelling and musical traditions. His solo shows are known for their lively atmosphere, blending original songs, folk classics, and plenty of audience participation.
In addition to music, Doyle has also appeared in film and television, including a role in Robin Hood, and has written bestselling books reflecting on his life in music and Newfoundland culture.
